About Us

Executive Director Message

What is LMM?

LMM is Lutheran Men in Mission; one of the last remaining national ministries to men whose primary focus and mission is discipleship and evangelism. Our goal is to intentionally disciple men to become bold, daring followers of Jesus Christ.

Why discipleship and evangelism? Simply put:
· Only 26% of men attend church in any given year, and that % decreases for men under the age of 40.
· 65% of men in the United Stated self-identify as being lonely.
· Only 10% of men report that they participate in any sort of mens groups or ministry.
· 90 million men are not involved in any form of Christian discipleship.

Considering there are 113 million men in the US, the need for ministries like LMM has never been greater!

Fortunately, LMM is stepping up to meet this challenge! Over the last few year, our impact includes:
· Over 89,000 men reached.
· 1,100 individuals and counting have participated in a Bold Gathering.
· More than 2,500 men have been transformed by the OYTL 44-hours experience.
· 15,000+ have taken advantage of Project Twelve.
· Over 68,000 Master Builder Bibles have been distributed or purchased.

Our work is far from over, but we take seriously the call of Christ in Matthew 28:19 when He said; “Go and make disciples of all nations…”

In the Power of the Spirit,
God Bless,
John

Core Values

Our Mission

By God’s grace, to intentionally disciple men by personally modeling the character of Jesus by living and leading a lifestyle intended to help transform them from having an inward focus to a culture of naturally loving and serving our neighbors.

Our History

Since the beginning, LMM has been about encouraging men to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ.

LMM was founded in 1988 as Lutheran Men in Mission when three Lutheran associations merged together into a new association, and a national ministry to men was deemed essential to adult faith formation and spiritual growth. In the early 2000s, LMM began to explore what it might look like to operate independently, and in 2008 LMM became a separately incorporated 501(c)3 with the mission of creating bold, daring followers of Jesus Christ.

God has worked through LMM in some exciting way! In 2003, LMM participated in a national research project, taking a deep look into the faith formation and spirituality of young men, which resulted in the book Coming of Age being produced.

In the late 2000s, in partnership with Lyman Coleman and La Mancha El Soul Foundation, LMM launched the 44-hour One Year To Live retreat, and has held this men’s weekend in over 20 states and the US Virgin Island impacting the lives of thousands of men.

In 2015, LMM brought together a group of emerging leaders and Project Twelve was born! Since those first meetings, hundreds of resources have been curated and created by this group of leaders!

In 2017, LMM launched the Bold Gathering, which brings 6 powerful faithful leaders to a stage for brief yet impactful TED-Talk style messages.

Today, LMM continues to work with men all over North America to help create bold daring followers of Jesus Christ!

LMM’s Strategic Narrative

Bathed in Spirit-led prayer, LMM will be discipling men across the spectrum of Lutheranism and the larger Christian church. These men will be a rich and redemptive representation of the body of Christ in age, ethnicity, theology, and spiritual maturity. All will be hungry for God’s word and engaged in an intentional relationship with Jesus Christ.

LMM will be well-known for its discipleship approach to equipping men who are bold and daring followers of Jesus Christ. The ministry will be well funded from a diversity of sources ensuring its sustainability and enabling it to flourish into the future and to wherever God leads.

These LMM gatherings were a mountain top experience for all who attended.
