Since the beginning, LMM has been about encouraging men to grow deeper in their relationship with Christ.
LMM was founded in 1988 as Lutheran Men in Mission when three Lutheran associations merged together into a new association, and a national ministry to men was deemed essential to adult faith formation and spiritual growth. In the early 2000s, LMM began to explore what it might look like to operate independently, and in 2008 LMM became a separately incorporated 501(c)3 with the mission of creating bold, daring followers of Jesus Christ.
God has worked through LMM in some exciting way! In 2003, LMM participated in a national research project, taking a deep look into the faith formation and spirituality of young men, which resulted in the book Coming of Age being produced.
In the late 2000s, in partnership with Lyman Coleman and La Mancha El Soul Foundation, LMM launched the 44-hour One Year To Live retreat, and has held this men’s weekend in over 20 states and the US Virgin Island impacting the lives of thousands of men.
In 2015, LMM brought together a group of emerging leaders and Project Twelve was born! Since those first meetings, hundreds of resources have been curated and created by this group of leaders!
In 2017, LMM launched the Bold Gathering, which brings 6 powerful faithful leaders to a stage for brief yet impactful TED-Talk style messages.
Today, LMM continues to work with men all over North America to help create bold daring followers of Jesus Christ!
